About Tom Paul

Professional Credentials:

Thomas (Tom) Paul is an aviation professional, community volunteer, and project manager. Originally born in the UK, Thomas grew up in Nova Scotia, where he still lives. As a child, Thomas was affected by dyslexia and attended the excellent Landmark East School in Wolfville. While you can never get rid of dyslexia, Landmark East School gave Thomas the skills to not let it hold him back. Thomas graduated from Moncton Flight College with a diploma in aviation technology before becoming a full-time instructor at the college. After four years of flight instruction, Thomas continued his airline career as a pilot at different airlines. Today, Thomas is a captain, trainer, and check pilot at a major Canadian airline.

Throughout Thomas’s professional career, he has continued to give back to his community through volunteering. Thomas was a foundation trustee at the Landmark East Foundation and then a Landmark East School board member. He is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour (formally Halifax Harbourside).

Thomas is involved in project leadership, both in his professional career and as a volunteer. High impact and effective projects within Thomas’ non-profit work are the most rewarding for him. In 2021 Thomas obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification and Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) certification from the Project Management Institute.

Problems are all around us. Problems that have a high level of complexity and uncertainty are wicked. Not all wicked problems can be solved, but they can be tamed. Thomas is a certified Wicked Problem Solving Practitioner from the Project Management Institute.
