Talking About Assessment

This morning I was invited to talk with a group of psychology students about what assessments are like from the perspective of a person who has a few assessments in the past.

The students are being taught by Dr. Melissa McGonnell, Assistant Professor, Coordinator, School Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax. See more about Melissa here. Melissa is also a former teacher at Landmark East School that I knew when I was a student.

I encourage any parent with a child who you suspect may be affected by a learning difference such as dyslexia, ADD and ADHD to reach out to their local school board, assessment professional, or association. There are also a few schools in Nova Scotia that cater to students with learning differences.

One school that I know a lot about is Landmark East School in Wolfville, www.landmarkeast.org. I would be happy to answer any questions about this school or direct you to the administration to see if Landmark is a good fit for your child.
